Missouri Falls To Washington In NCAA Regional

Washington scored a run in both the seventh and eighth innings and rallied from down, 1-0, to defeat sixth-seeded Mizzou, 2-1, Thursday night (May 23) in game one of the NCAA Columbia Super Regional. Mizzou carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning after scoring a go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI infield single from sophomore 1B Kelsea Roth (Yorba Linda, Calif.), but Washington used a game-tying RBI single through the left side to tie the game and then an RBI double in the eighth off the bat of Victoria Hayward to complete the comeback.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the 2013 NFCA Division I All-Region teams, and the Southeastern Conference had 33 athletes named between two regions. In the South region, the SEC had eight first team members and seven second team members. In the Southeast region, the SEC had nine first team selections and nine second team accolades for 18 total honors.

The NCAA Softball Committee announced its NCAA Tournament bracket Sunday and the Southeastern Conference set a league record by advancing 11 teams to the tournament. The SEC also grabbed seven national seeds: SEC Champion Florida (52-7) earned the national No. 2 seed for the third year in a row while the Missouri Tigers (35-11) earned the No. 6 seed. The Tennessee Lady Vols (44-10) are the No. 7 national seed while LSU (40-14) is the No. 9 seed. Alabama (42-13) is the No. 10 seed, Kentucky (38-18) earned the No. 12 seed and Texas A&M (39-15) is the No. 16 overall seed.
