Tennessee’s Scotty Hopson was named SEC Player of the Week after he averaged 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists while leading the Vols to the NIT Season Tip-Off championship. Hopson was named Most Outstanding Player honors of the prestigious tournament after powering the Volunteers to victories over VCU and seventh-ranked Villanova. Hopson scored a team-high 18 points in each game, and his 11-rebound effort against VCU gave him his first career double-double. He shot .462 from the field and .400 from 3-point range while helping Tennessee become just the second SEC team ever to win the NIT Season Tip-Off championship.

Kentucky’s Terrence Jones was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 23.0 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks in games against Oklahoma, No. 13 Washington and UConn at the EA Sports Maui Invitational. An all-tournament selection, Jones scored in double digits in all three games in Hawaii, while posting double-doubles in two of the three games, including his second 20-10 game of the season. His 29 points against Oklahoma tied for second most points in a game by a UK freshman in school history. His 17 rebounds against Washington was third most rebounds by a freshman in school history.
