    Florida’s Chandler Parson was named SEC Player of the Week after he averaged 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in wins over No. 23 Vanderbilt and No. 10 Kentucky. It marked Florida’s first back-to-back wins over ranked teams since 2007. He opened the week with an 18-point 11-rebound showing in the Gators’ overtime victory over Vanderbilt, scoring four of the Gators’ final seven points in overtime and sealing the game with a defensive rebound off of a Vanderbilt missed 3. Against Kentucky he was at his best, scoring 17 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out five assists with no turnovers. Parsons hit 6-of-10 shots and 2-of-4 attempts from 3-point range.

    SEC Freshman Of The Week

    Alabama’s Trevor Releford was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 14.5 points, 6.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in wins over Mississippi State and at Tennessee. In the week’s opener against Mississippi State he scored 16 points and had a career-high eight assists and eight steals. His assists led to 20 points while his steals turned into four points making the freshman account for 40 of UA’s 75 points. At Tennessee he shot 50 percent from the field again and made a pair of free throws in overtime to seal the Tide’s third SEC road win of the season. He also added a team-high four assists in that win
