    Alabama’s Tony Mitchell was named SEC Player of the Week after he averaged 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in wins at LSU and over Arkansas. He scored a career-high 27 points in the win over Arkansas with three highlight reel dunks as well. Mitchell converted on 11 of his 15 shots and was a perfect 10-of-10 inside the three-point arc. On the glass, he had nine rebounds, six of them coming on offense. His contributions outside of the scoring column led to 22 additional points making the sophomore directly responsible for 49 of the team’s 69 points. His 27-point night was his fifth 20-point game in his last six outings.

    Kentucky’s Terrence Jones was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists in wins over Mississippi State and South Carolina. Jones recorded back-to-back double-doubles in helping lead the Cats to a 2-0 record on the week. He has tallied four double-doubles in last six games. Jones tied a career high with five assists against Mississippi State and with five offensive rebounds against South Carolina. His 10 defensive rebounds against Mississippi State was most since pulling down 15 against Notre Dame on Dec. 8
