    2011 SEC Men's Cross Country Watch List Announced

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - ­ The Southeastern Conference on Thursday unveiled its men’s cross country preseason watch list. League teams begin their 2011 seasons starting Friday and here’s a look at some of the top men’s performers across the conference.


    Carison Kemei

    ·         Earned All-SEC and NCAA All-South Region honors in 2010.
    ·         Was UA’s second finisher at the NCAA Championships with a 46th-place finish.
    ·         Finished second at the 2010 NCAA South Region Championships and ninth at the SEC Championships.

    Joel Rop

    ·         Earned All-SEC and NCAA All-South Region honors in 2010.
    ·         Finished 12th at the SEC Championships with a time of 24:34.14.
    ·         Finished in the top 100 at the NCAA Championships as UA’s third runner across the line in 98th.


    Eric Fernandez

    ·         2010 All-SEC and All-Region performer
    ·         Finished in Arkansas’ top three in five of six races last season
    ·         Part of Arkansas’ 18th SEC cross country title team

    Solomon Haile

    ·         2010 All-American; finished 17th overall at national meet
    ·         2010 All-SEC and All-Region runner
    ·         Helped Arkansas to 18th SEC cross country title
    ·         The Razorbacks’ top finisher in two races in 2010


    Jeff Sanders

    ·         Leading returner for Auburn in 2011
    ·         Posted three top-15 finishes in 2010
    ·         Holds a personal best time of 26:59 in the 8k

    Kane Grimster

    ·         One of the top newcomers on the Auburn squad
    ·         Posted PRs of 3:44 in the 1500m and 1:50 in the 800m
    ·         Placed seventh at the IAAF Youth World Championships with a time of 3:50.89 in the 1500m


    Josh Izewski

    ·         Florida’s lone senior on the 2011 cross country squad who scored in three of five meets for the Gators in 2010, including a first-place overall finish at UF’s Mountain Dew Invitational
    ·         Ran career-best times in the 8K (Wisconsin adidas Invitational) and 10K (NCAA South Region Championship) races his junior year, while turning in three top-three finishes for UF in 2010
    ·         Competed at the 2010 NCAA Track and Field Championships in the 10,000m

    Matt Mizereck

    ·         An SEC All-Freshman Team selection his first year on campus in 2010 that scored in three of the five meets he competed in for the Gators, including crossing the finish line third for the Gators at the SEC Championship – his best finish of the season
    ·         Ran his fastest 8K and 10K races at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational and the NCAA South Region Championship, respectively, en route to All-South Region honors as just a freshman
    ·         Named the SEC Cross Country Male Freshman of the Week following his personal-best 8K race at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational


    Matt Cleaver

    ·         2011 SEC steeplechase champion and school record holder (8:45.01)
    ·         Redshirted the 2010 cross season
    ·         Scored in all six meets for the Bulldogs during the 2009 cross season, including a runner-up finish at the Georgia Tech dual meet

    Brett Richardson

    ·         Had the top finish for the Bulldogs in three races as a sophomore last year
    ·         Finished sixth in the 10,000 meters at the SEC Outdoor Championships
    ·         Won last year's season-opening Georgia Cross Country Invitational and was second during the dual meet win over Georgia Tech


    Luis Orta

    ·         Named to the All-SEC Freshman team and All-SEC second team in 2009.
    ·         Had the fastest time on the team in five of Kentucky’s six races last season.
    ·         Had three top-five overall finishes in 2010.

    Josh Nadzam

    ·         Closed out his junior year strong by finishing in second place on the team in each of Kentucky’s final three races.
    ·         Had two top-20 overall finishes during his junior campaign.
    ·         Has competed in every race for UK in each of the past two seasons.


    Richard Chautin

    ·         Voted on the All-Louisiana team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in 2010.
    ·         Was LSU's best runner in 2010 after sitting out the previous season.
    ·         Collected three consecutive top-five finishes to begin the season.

    Cullen Doody

    ·         Voted to the All-Louisiana team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association the past two years.
    ·         Led the Tigers as top runner in 2009.
    ·         Ran a career-best 8k time of 26:26.18 at the 2010 MSU Invitational.


    Martin Kirui

    ·         2010 All-SEC Cross Country second team selection
    ·         2010 All-South Region (cross country)
    ·         2010 SEC Outdoor Champion (3,000 meter steeplechase)

    Kipchirchir Kiptoo

    ·         2010 SEC All-Freshman Cross Country selection
    ·         Finished 25th at the 2010 SEC Cross Country Championships
    ·         Placed third for Ole Miss at every meet in 2010, behind Kirui brothers


    Nick Perkins

    ·         2010 SEC Freshman of the Week Honoree
    ·         Runner-up at 2010 Georgia Invitational
    ·         Third place finish at 2010 Bulldog Invitational

    Phillip Johnson

    ·         Fourth-place finish at Bulldog Invitational
    ·         Top 10 finish at Georgia Invitational
    ·         Second Bulldog to finish at 2010 SEC Championships


    Chris Bodary

    ·         UT’s top returnee, he was a 2010 All-South Region performer, finishing 23rd at the NCAA South Regional.
    ·         2008 SEC All-Freshman honoree for his 43rd-place finish.
    ·         Counted toward UT’s scoring total in 12 races during his career, including nine of his last 11 starts and his past six races.

    Jake Rainey

    ·         Member of the 2010 SEC All-Freshman Team for his 34th-place conference finish.
    ·         Contributed to UT scoring tally in five of six meets as a rookie.
    ·         Debuted in 2010 by leading team and placing sixth at the Belmont-VU Invitational.


    Chris Baker

    ·                 Top runner for the team at SEC and NCAA Region in 2010
    ·                 25:30 5-mile best at Louisville
    ·                 51st at the SEC meet in 2010

    Jenner Kizer

    ·                 Top runner for Vanderbilt in all 6 meets for 2009
    ·                 45th at the SEC meet in 2009
    ·                 Academic All-SEC all three years at Vanderbilt
