    LSU Rallies Past ETSU, 71-68

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The LSU women's basketball team rallied from a 12-point deficit to force overtime before defeating East Tennessee State to snap a three-game skid, 71-68, on Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers (14-6), who trailed 33-24 at halftime, forced the extra period when Swayze Black pulled down three-straight offensive rebounds in the final 15 seconds before scoring just before the buzzer to tie the game at 63-63.

In overtime, LaSondra Barrett gave the Lady Tigers a one-point lead, 69-68, by hitting two free throws with 48 seconds to play. She made two more to give LSU the final margin after an ETSU turnover.

Barrett scored a team-high 20 points despite only 5-of-16 shooting. She made 10-of-11 free throws and grabbed 10 rebounds with four assists. Bianca Lutley added 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while guard Adrienne Webb and forward Courtney Jones each scored nine for LSU.

Amy Duke, who led the Lady Bucs with 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting, missed a three pointer in the closing seconds of overtime. ETSU made 10-of-26 from three-point range to stay ahead of the struggling Lady Tigers for most of the contest.

East Tennessee State (5-15), which started the 2011-12 season 0-10, finished 27-of-64 from the field, while LSU was 27 of 74 (36.5 percent).

LSU resumes Southeastern Conference play on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT when the Lady Tigers travel back to the state of Tennessee for the third time in 11 days to face Vanderbilt.
