NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Courtney Jones scored 18 points and LSU beat No. 10 Kentucky 72-61 on Saturday to advance to its ninth Southeastern Conference tournament championship game.
The fourth-seeded Lady Tigers (22-9) haven't played in the conference title game since appearing in four in a row between 2005 and 2008. They never trailed against the top-seeded Wildcats, using a 10-0 run early in the game and stingy defense to take control.
LSU held a 22-9 rebounding advantage in the first half that it turned into 10 second-chance points and went 24 for 32 at the free-throw line in the second half.
A'dia Mathies scored 18 points for Kentucky (25-6), and Keyla Snowden had 17.

LSU NOTES
• LSU is now 22-9 on the season, 31-30 all-time in the SEC Tournament and will advance to play in Sunday’s Championship.
• The Tigers advance to the final for the first time since 2008, where they fell to Tennessee, 61-55.
• Sunday will mark LSU’s ninth appearance in the SEC Tournament Championship.
• LSU is now 6-2 all-time against the #1 seed in the SEC Tournament.
• The Tigers are now 5-3 against ranked teams this season.
• LSU never trailed in the game and led by as many as 18 at the 6:23 mark of the second half.
• With the win, the Tigers swept the season series from Kentucky, 2-0.
• The Tigers led at the half 26-16 and are now 17-1 when leading at the half, 9-0 against SEC opponents.
• LSU dominated the rebounding battle, 38-23, the 24th time this season they have outrebounded an opponent. The Tigers are 19-5 when doing so.
• Four LSU players scored in double-figures, led by senior forward Courtney Jones’ 18 points. Senior forward LaSondra Barrett scored 15, junior guard Adrienne Webb had 11, and sophomore guard Jeanne Kenney had 10.
KENTUCKY NOTES
• Kentucky is now 25-6 on the season, 24-32 all-time in the SEC Tournament.
• The 16 points scored by Kentucky marked the fewest points scored in a half this season. The previous low was 18, also against LSU in the first half of LSU’s 61-51 win on Feb.5.
• Freshman guard Bria Goss started today’s game, the 101st consecutive game that Kentucky has started a freshman.
• Junior guard A’dia Mathies recorded three steals, moving her into sole possession of sixth on UK’s all-time list with 246.
• Mathies is now 10th on UK’s all-time list for made three-pointers with 101, after hitting one today.
• Mathies scored 18 points, leading Kentucky for the 16th time this season. This was the 24th game this season she scored in double-figures.
• Senior guard Keyla Snowden scored 17 points for her 15th double-figure game on the year and second consecutive with 17 points scored.
