ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Alabama men's golf team stretched its lead to 11 strokes on the second day of the SEC Men’s Golf Championship, held at the Sea Island Golf Club Seaside Course, after firing a 6-under-par team score of 274 to place the Tide at 14-under (546) overall.  Auburn and Georgia are both tied for 2nd at 3-under-par (557).

No other squads are under par for the tournament.

“We are going to play this event in three segments and it really doesn’t matter what we’ve done the first couple of days”, Alabama head coach Jay Seawell said. “We’re going to try and win the day tomorrow. If that happens, something good will happen for us. A lot can still happen. We’ll approach Sunday the same way we would if we were ten shots behind.”

Justin Thomas led Alabama with a second-round score of 3-under 67.  Rick Lamb of Tennessee and Ethan Tracy of Arkansas also shot a 67 on Saturday, which was the low round of the day.

Bobby Wyatt, the individual leader after the opening round, will enter Sunday’s final round tied with Lamb in the quest for medalist honors at 6-under for the weekend. They lead Thomas by just a stroke.

Due to impending weather, the field will begin play at 7:30 a.m. ET on Sunday morning for the championship round. Sunday’s forecast calls for a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms and a high of 77 degrees.

Admission is free and open to the public.
