KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Following an incredible 2011-12 campaign where she was named the Southeastern Conference Diver of the Year and earned First-Team All-America honors, Tennessee Lady Vol diver Tori Lamp will travel to Montreal, Quebec, for the Canada Cup.
Competing as a member of Team USA, Lamp will be in action in the women’s 10-meter platform competition with prelims and semi-finals taking place May 4.
In the prelims each diver will perform five dives with the top 12 advancing to the semi-finals. In the semis, Group A will consist of divers who finished second, fourth, sixth, eighth, 10th and 12th, while Group B will be made up of divers who finished first, third, fifth, seventh, ninth and 11th in the prelims.
The top three finishers in Groups A and B will advance to the finals on May 6.
No stranger to the meet, Friday will mark Lamp’s second appearance at the Canada Cup, as she competed in the same event in 2009, advancing to the semi-finals.
The Canada Cup is the second stop during the 2012 FINA Grand Prix, which takes place in six different cities between February and June.
As a redshirt sophomore Lamp won five events, including victories on the platform at the NCAA Zone B Championships, the SEC Championships and at the Georgia Diving Invitational. In December she secured a spot in the upcoming Olympic Trials after placing fifth on the towers at the USA Diving Winter Nationals held in Knoxville.
The Canada Cup runs May 3-6 at Olympic Park Sports Center Pool.
