OXFORD, Miss. - Senior Kendall Bruning tossed her first career no-hitter and the third in school history and Ole Miss exploded for nine runs in the second inning, as the Rebels routed Arkansas-Pine Bluff 9-0 in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Rebels completed the sweep with a 10-0 run-rule win in game two, as the Ole Miss bats combined for 26 hits in the two games.

Bruning retired 15-of-16 batters she faced and was only allowing a third inning walk away from a perfect game. She did not give up a hit in five innings of work with six strikeouts on 79 pitches.  It marked her first career no-hitter and the first in school history since Lindsey Perry and Brittany Barnhill threw back-to-back- no-hitters in a doubleheader against Alcorn State in 2010.

First baseman Londen Ladner singled to left to start the second and moved to third on Cali Overbeck’s double down the line in left. Both runners scored on designated player Erinn Jayjohn’s two-run single to left center and after catcher Marina Parra walked, freshman Dallas Hardin doubled to right center to plate Jayjohn and put the Rebels up 3-0. Bruning followed with an RBI infield single and Brittany Broome reached on a bunt single to load the bases for shortstop Allison Brown, who ripped an RBI single to left. Overbeck added an RBI double later in the frame and Jayjohn knocked a two-run single to left that extended the Ole Miss lead to 9-0 after two.

Jayjohn led the Rebels at the plate with two hits and a career-high four RBI, while Ladner and Overbeck each posted two hits and two runs.

    Game Two

Leadoff hitter Brittany Broome reached on bunt single to start the bottom of the first and stole second before moving to third on a Marina Parra groundout. Shortstop Allison Brown then roped a double to the wall in center that scored Broome and first baseman Londen Ladner followed with a double to right center that put the Rebels up 2-0.

Senior Amanda Hutcheson led off the second with single to center and stole second before scoring on a throwing error by third baseman An’Jewlique Frazier on a Brittany Broome grounder. Broome scored later in the frame on Marina Parra’s double to right center that extended the Ole Miss lead to 4-0. After Brown doubled to left, Ladner laced a two-run single to right center and designated player Lauren Lindsey poked a single through the ride side that scored Overbeck and put the Rebels up 8-0. Catcher Kelly Nolan then blooped a bases-loaded RBI single to right and Broome earned a walk to bring pinch runner Dallas Hardin home for the eighth run of the frame.

Jayjohn picked up the win after allowing just two hits with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. Senior Laina Collier entered in relief in the fifth and picked up the final two outs in just ten pitches with one K.

Ladner paced the Rebels at the plate in the second game with two hits and three RBI, while Broome and Brown both collected a pair of hits and scored two runs each.
