STARKVILLE, Miss. – After helping the Mississippi State softball team reach the NCAA Tournament this past spring, volunteer assistant coach Kelsi Dunne has accepted a position as the pitching coach for Oklahoma State University, MSU Head Coach Vann Stuedeman announced Thursday morning.
"Kelsi helped our 2012 staff lower our ERA by two runs a game from the previous season and she will be sorely missed," said Stuedeman. "She is like a daughter to me and I could not be more proud of her and excited for her.”
In her first year in a coaching capacity, Dunne helped the same five Bulldog pitchers lower their school-record high 4.90 ERA from 2011 to a much more manageable 2.88 clip this past spring. As a volunteer, Dunne helped create pitching game plans, develop pitchers in the circle on a daily basis and served as a pitcher for the MSU offense in batting practice.
