KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Derek Dooley’s Tennessee Volunteers rode into Saturday’s showdown with Georgia State riding the positive energy from a convincing win over NC State last weekend in Atlanta. The Vols kept that energy going against the Panthers, throwing their way to a 51-13 win inside Neyland Stadium.
Tyler Bray led an efficient attack for Tennessee, completing 18 of his 20 passes for 310 yards and four touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Justin Hunter was a favorite target for Bray throughout the contest, racking up 146 yards and three receiving touchdowns on eight receptions.
Although Bray was the star of the show, Tennessee running back Rajion Neal made an impact of his own on this game. Neal averaged five yards on his 13 carries and finished the game with 65 yards and two rushing touchdowns in the winning effort.
The four-touchdown performance for Bray marked his 13th career multi-touchdown game. Tennessee has now won 18 consecutive home openers dating back to 1994.
