    South Carolina Pulls Away From UAB

    COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 8 South Carolina welcomed UAB to Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday night and hung 501 yards of offense on the Blazers en route to a 49-6 win. Connor Shaw returned from injury and combined with backup Dylan Thompson to throw for 284 yards through the air to lead the Gamecocks.
     
    After a pair of field goals in the first half, the Blazers (0-2) were held scoreless in the second half while the Gamecocks scored 28 points in the same span, with Thompson accounting for three of the four scores.
     
    Marcus Lattimore rushed 12 times for South Carolina (3-0) and finished the evening with 85 yards and a score on the ground. USC out-rushed UAB by a final tally of 179 yards to 27 and held the Blazers to 2.7 yards per play on 89 snaps.
     
    South Carolina will host Missouri next week in what will be the second conference game of the season for both schools.
