Birmingham, Ala. -- The Southeastern Conference unveiled the 2013 women’s basketball television schedule on Tuesday. In the fourth year of its agreement with ESPN, 58 regular season games and all 13 tournament games will be televised live. In addition, institutions will televise 30 games for a total of 90 SEC regular season games being broadcasted this season.
Eighteen games that involve an SEC team will be distributed nationally with ESPN or ESPN2 televising eleven contests and ESPNU also televising seven.
Regionally-syndicated games will be televised on the SEC Network as part of ESPN Regional Television (ERT). The SEC Network will televise eight conference games while SportsSouth and Comcast Sports Southeast will show 16 games each. The majority of games not televised nationally will be available as a part of ESPN Full Court, the pay subscription college basketball out-of-market service, and on ESPN3. All programming on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will be available on computers at WatchESPN.com and on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
The SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament will undergo a format change for the upcoming 2012-13 season. The tournament, which had been a four-day event featuring 12 teams since 1992, will now expand to 14 teams, adding an extra day of competition. Fox Sports Net continues its dedication to SEC events by adding the new Wednesday games, while continuing to televise the Thursday and Friday games. The semifinals will be aired on ESPNU for the fourth consecutive year, while the championship game will again be televised on ESPN2.
