OXFORD, Miss. – Bo Wallace threw a touchdown, caught a touchdown, and ran for two more as the Ole Miss Rebels defeated Auburn 41-20 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday. The Rebels’ victory marked the first SEC win of Hugh Freeze’s tenure as head coach, and it was Ole Miss’ (4-3, 1-2 SEC) first conference win since Oct. 2, 2010, snapping a 16-game SEC losing streak.
Wallace finished the day with 290 total yards and four total touchdowns, and running back Jeff Scott co-starred in the victory with 207 total yards and a receiving touchdown of his own. Overall, the Rebels outgained Auburn (1-5, 0-4) by 238 yards despite the Tigers controlling time of possession by almost 10 minutes.
Tre Mason ran for 81 yards and two scores for Auburn, and the Tigers were within a touchdown of the Rebels early in the fourth quarter before Ole Miss rattled off two touchdowns to blow the game open. Ole Miss forced two turnovers on the afternoon and did not commit any turnovers of their own.
Including Wallace, nine different Rebels recorded receptions in the win. The sophomore quarterback caught his first career touchdown pass in the first quarter on a 25-yard halfback pass from Randall Mackey.
