Van Arsdale Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

    Nov. 19, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky men’s soccer junior goalkeeper Jack Van Arsdale has been selected to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, in a voting of the league sports information directors, it was announced.

A native of Richmond, Va., Van Arsdale sports a 3.79 GPA as an exercise science/pre-medicine major. A transfer from Virginia Commonwealth, Van Arsdale was named second-team All-Conference USA in a voting of the league coaches following the 2012 season.

In his first year as the starting keeper, Van Arsdale had the 11th-best goals-against average in UK single-season history, a 1.10. His 1.21 goals-against average checks in as the sixth-best career mark in program annals.

With 58 saves in 2012, Van Arsdale had the 13th-most in UK season history, adding six shutouts in 19 games. After winning the starting job with a 1-0 shutout win at No. 19 Louisville in the sixth game of the year, Van Arsdale went on a tear over the final 16 games, owning a 1.03 goals-against average with a 9-5-2 record.

Kentucky completed the 2012 season with its fifth all-time NCAA Tournament berth, earning the second hosting bid in program history. The Wildcats suffered a 1-0 loss to No. 19 Xavier on Thursday night at the UK Soccer Complex, with the Musketeers getting a goal in the 86th minute, despite a great three-save game from Van Arsdale.
