
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its 2012 AVCA All-Region teams and the SEC had 11 student-athletes named to the South Region Team. Four SEC athletes received Honorable Mention honors while Florida freshman Živa Recek was named South Region Freshman of the Year.
Recek also claimed the SEC Freshman of the Year award as the league’s top rookie. She leads Florida in kills with 429 (4.01/set) and ranks top five in the SEC in kills and points per set (4.48). Recek was a three-time SEC Freshman of the Week selection and was the first Gator to earn SEC Freshman of the Year honors since Kelly Murphy in 2008.
SEC Player of the Year Chloe Mann and SEC Libero of the Year Stephanie Klefot were also named to the South Region team.
