HONOLULU, Hawaii – For the second consecutive outing, Murphy Holloway dropped a team-high in scoring for Ole Miss, this time leading the Rebels to an 81-66 Christmas Day win over Hawaii.
Holloway connected on eight of his 13 field goal attempts on his way to 18 points, nine rebounds, two steals and a pair of assists. In addition to Holloway’s strong effort, the Rebels were aided by impressive scoring efforts from Nick Williams and Marshall Holloway. The duo dropped 16 points apiece in the win for Ole Miss while also combined for eight boards.
But Hawaii’s Vander Joaquim did not make things easy for the Rebs.
Joaquim turned in a monster performance for the Warriors with game-highs in scoring and rebounds at 29 and 15, respectively. The senior center converted on 52 percent of his shots on the afternoon to pace Hawaii, but despite his huge effort Ole Miss was simply too strong.
As a team, Ole Miss shot 43.3 percent from the floor compared to just 39.3 percent by Hawaii. The Warriors were particularly cold from 3-point range, hitting on only 2-of-16 tries from beyond the arc (12.5 percent). The Rebels also forced the Warriors into 15 turnovers while limiting themselves to just eight on the game.
