Gainesville, Fla. -- The Florida Gators closed out non-conference play with an impressive 79-58 victory over Yale in New Haven Sunday evening.
Kenny Boynton rediscovered his stroke and led the Gators (10-2), matching his career-high with 28 points, hitting 9-of-12 shots from the floor and a scorching 8-of-10 shots from three-point range.
In addition, Boynton broke Lee Humphrey’s school-record for career three-pointers on his final trey of the night, hitting the 290th of his Gator career.
Will Yeguete had 14 points and nine rebounds and Mike Rosario had 13 points for the Gators. The game was supposed to be a homecoming for Erik Murphy who missed the game due to bruised ribs, suffered in practice on Friday.
The Gators now turn their focus on Wednesday night’s SEC opener against Georgia at the O’Connell Center (7 p.m.).
