    SEC Riders Selected For WEF Collegiate Equitation Challenge

    WELLINGTON, Fla. – Four Southeastern Conference riders have been selected to participate in the fourth-annual Collegiate Equitation Challenge as part of the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Fla. The finals of the event will be held Friday, February 8 at 7 p.m. ET in the International Arena at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.

    The SEC riders chosen for the 16-athlete equitation over fences event include Georgia’s Olivia Dorey, South Carolina’s Amber Henter, Auburn’s Jennifer Waxman and Texas A&M’s Emily Williams. Additionally, Texas A&M’s Paige Russell has been chosen as a demo rider for the equitation on the flat spotlight that will occur during the finals.

    The event will be conducted utilizing the NCEA head-to-head bracketed format with the 16 top collegiate riders from across the country. The eight winners of the preliminary round competitions will qualify for the finals of the event, while the remaining eight riders will contest a consolation bracket immediately following the preliminary round.

    The horses will be on loan from local professionals and unfamiliar to the riders.
