    No. 24 Auburn in Eighth at Amer Ari Invitational

    WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – The No. 24 Auburn men’s golf team slipped to eighth place after the second round at the Amer Ari Invitational on Thursday at the King’s Course in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The Tigers shot an even-288 and is 7-under for the tournament, 14 strokes behind No. 7 Washington, who lead the tournament by two strokes. Texas’ Cody Gribble and UCLA’s Pontus Widegren share the individual lead at 7-under.

    “We need to play the par 5s better tomorrow and I believe we will,” head coach Nick Clinard said. “This is a very good team and we are looking forward to the final round tomorrow.”

    Senior All-American Dominic Bozzelli carded his lowest round of the year, a 4-under 68, and is currently tied for third with Oregon State’s David Fink and Southern California’s Anthony Paolucci at 6-under. Bozzelli shot a bogey-free round and birdied Nos. 1, 2, 10 and 14.

    All-SEC sophomore Michael Johnson is tied for 11th after shooting a 2-under 70 to move to 4-under for the tournament. The Birmingham, Ala., native recorded three birdies on the day, but bogeyed on the par-4 No. 9.

    All-SEC senior Michael Hebert is tied for 55th and All-SEC junior Niclas Carlsson is tied for 65th after both shot a 4-over 76. Redshirt sophomore Dan Stringfellow is tied for 79th at 4-over, shooting a 2-over 74. Redshirt freshman Jake Mondy, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 105th at 10-over.

    The Tigers will tee off tomorrow at 11:30 am CT with No. 9 Georgia Tech, No. 14 Oklahoma State and TCU. Live stats for the Amer Ari Invitational can be found online at www.golfstat.com.
