    Sierra And Cate Preparing For International Competitions

    Current Auburn soccer player Bianca Sierra and former player Ana Cate are both preparing for international competitions with their respective national teams. Sierra will play in the Algarve Cup in Portugal while Cate will play in the Central American Games in San Jose, Costa Rica.

    Sierra, a defender, and the Mexican National Team are a part of the annual 12-team event in the Algarve region of Portugal. Held annually since 1994, it is one of the most prestigious women's soccer events, alongside the Women's World Cup and Women's Olympic Soccer.

    Sierra played for the Mexican National Team during the summer of 2012 in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Japan, where it advanced to the quarterfinals.

    The Algarve Cup features most of the world's top women's soccer teams. The teams are divided into three groups of four - A, B and C and this will be Mexico's first appearance in the Algarve Cup, which will take place March 6-13. Other teams in Mexico's group are Portugal, Hungary and Wales.

    Mexico will play Hungary on March 6, Wales on March 8 and Portugal on March 11.

    Cate, a midfielder, joins the Nicaraguan National Team for the Central American Games, which will be held for the 10th time.

    Cate played for the Nicaraguan National Team in qualifying matches for the Central American and Caribbean Games in the summer of 2009.

    Nicaragua will play El Salvadore on March 6, Costa Rica on March 8 and Belize on March 10.
