AUBURN - The Auburn volleyball team, which began spring workouts this week, will play its first spring competition Saturday at Central Florida, Head Coach Rick Nold announced Wednesday.
The Tigers will have five competition dates during the spring, including two home dates on A-Day Weekend.
"We are excited to enter into the competition segment of our spring season," Nold said. "We have made some important individual improvements so far, and the competitions we have scheduled over the next month will give us an opportunity to work on our team systems against some very strong competition."
The Tigers will travel to Orlando this Saturday for a 12-team tournament at UCF. Next Sunday, March 31, Auburn will play Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla. The road schedule will conclude Saturday, April 13, with a match at Georgia Tech.
Prior to the A-Day football game on Saturday, April 20, the Tigers will host an Alumni Scrimmage at the Student Activities Center from 8:30-11 a.m., and Auburn will host a multi-team tournament the following day to wrap up the spring.
Auburn returns nine letter-winners - including six seniors - from the 2012 team that finished with a 17-13 overall record, 8-12 in SEC play. The Tigers also have a pair of newcomers already on campus as signee Kia Bright enrolled in January and sophomore Alyssa Ivey transferred from Middle Tennessee.
