LEXINGTON, Ky. – Phil Pressey poured in 20 points for Missouri on Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough to lift the Tigers to a win against Colorado State in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64. Mizzou (23-11) could not overcome a nine-point halftime deficit in Lexington and ended up falling to the Rams by a final score of 84-72.
Colorado State’s Dorian Green scored 26 points overall, 17 of which came in the first half. CSU (26-8) shot 49 percent as a team and doubled up the Tigers on the glass (36 rebounds to 18) on the night, while limiting Missouri to 42 percent shooting on the defensive end.
Alex Oriakhi scored 16 points for Mizzou thanks to a perfect shooting performance (6-for-6 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the free throw line, while Jabari Brown added 14 points as well. Earnest Ross added 11 points and three rebounds in the loss.
Green hit six of his 13 shots on the evening, while Greg Smith and Jon Octeus chipped in with 12 points apiece. Wes Eikmeier scored 11 points to go along with three boards and a pair of assists for CSU, which overcame 14 turnovers to down the Tigers.
Mizzou pulled to within four points early in the second half, but CSU responded with a 17-4 run to quell the Tigers’ push.
