AUBURN -- Gus Malzahn hinted another fast-paced practice was in the offing when he walked to the sidelines to coach up the crew holding he first down markers.
"You guys are to have more really quick," he warned.
The Auburn coach was right. Auburn hit the field at Jordan-Hare Stadium for a Saturday morning practice with speed very much in the playbook.
"Pace versus defense," blared over the loudspeaker.
Quarterback Kiehl Frazier was on the field for the first run through of a team drill. "Hurry up! Hurry up! Hurry up!" yelled offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. Jonathan Wallace was next for a series of quick plays.
And then, just as suddenly, the players were off to do something else in the hurry-up practice.
It's the first day in pads for Auburn. Officials were on hand, but no scrimmage is scheduled
The first of practice featured punt return drills. Quan Bray, Chris Davis and Robenson Therezie were among the participants.
Check back for a post-practice report.
