Eight SEC players were selected in the 2013 National Pro Fastpitch College Draft Monday evening in Nashville. LSU All-American Rachele Fico was selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Akron Racers, marking the fourth consecutive year the SEC had the No. 1 selection.
Tennessee seniors Ivy Renfroe and Raven Chavanne were selected in the second and fourth rounds, respectively. Renfroe was taken eighth overall by the Akron Racers and Chavanne was the 13th overall pick by the Chicago Bandits.
South Carolina’s Samie Garcia was the 14th overall selection in the draft, joining the NY/NJ Comets as their fourth-round selection, while Texas A&M’s Mel Dumezich was selected by the Chicago Bandits as the 15th overall pick.
Georgia’s Tess Sito was the 16th overall selection and the fifth pick by the Akron Racers.
Missouri seniors Jenna Marston and Chelsea Thomas round out the SEC selections in the draft. Marston was selected 19th overall by the Chicago Bandits while Thomas was the 20th overall pick by the USSSA Pride.
