    SEC In The MLB: Top Performers

    With the Major League Baseball season getting into full swing, here is a list of some of the top performances from former Southeastern Conference standouts.

    Position Players

    -Seth Smith, LF, A’s (Ole Miss) – In four appearances this season, splitting time between the outfield and DH, the former Rebel is hitting .412. He launched his first homerun of the year on April 6th and blasted a two run double to right on April 7th to help the A’s complete their weekend sweep of the Astros.

    -J.P. Arencibia, C, Blue Jays (Tennessee) – In seven appearances Arencibia is hitting .313 with 3 home runs and 3 doubles. He rocketed two of the Blue Jays’ five home runs in an April 4th win over Cleveland.

    -Aaron Hill, 2B, Diamondbacks (LSU)- In eight appearances he is batting .294 with 2 HR and 5 RBIs. Highlighted by a 3-6 performance at Milwaukee on April 7th, Hill accounted for half of the Diamondbacks’ runs in an 8-7 win to cap off the weekend sweep.


    -Tim Hudson/Paul Maholm/Mike Minor, Braves (Auburn/Mississippi State/Vanderbilt)- The trio of SEC products have pitched the Braves to a fast 8-1 start. Combined they are 5-0 with 34 K and flaunt an ERA of 0.50 through 6 combined starts.

    -Cliff Lee, Phillies (Arkansas)- Lee has started the 2013 season off with two impressive performances including a 2-0 victory over the Braves on April 4th. He pitched 8 shutout innings only allowing two hits and struck out 8. Overall, he is 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA.
