SEC Baseball Players Of The Week

    Tony Kemp • Vanderbilt
Junior • IF  • Franklin, Tenn.

VU’s Tony Kemp posted three multi-hit games during the week to bring his total to a team-best 20 multi-hit games for the season. He singled three times and scored three wins in win at #12 Louisville stealing two bases. He collected four hits in Saturday’s win over #16 Mississippi State, including his 20th career triple to leave him one shy of the Southeastern Conference record.

    Barrett Astin • Arkansas
Junior • RHP  • Forrest City, Ark.

Junior right hander Barrett Astin worked a career-long eight shutout innings and struck out eight to lead Arkansas to a 2-0 series-opening win at Georgia on Friday. He struck out a season-high eight and gave up just four hits in his eight innings of work. After Georgia loaded the bases in the first inning, Astin did not allow a Bulldog base runner to advance past first base for the rest of his outing.

    Jack Wynkoop • South Carolina
    Freshman • P  • Virginia Beach, Virginia

Freshman left-hander Jack Wynkoop followed up a solid performance last week with seven scoreless innings in a 4-0 victory at No. 2 LSU in the rubber game of a three-game series at Alex Box Stadium on ESPN.  It marked the first series loss by the Tigers this year.  Wynkoop never reached a 3-ball count in the entire stint and limited the Tigers, the second ranked offense in the league, to just five hits with no walks.  Wynkoop combined with two other Gamecocks for the six-hit shutout.
