    Auburn Plays Host To No. 11 Arkansas To Close Out Regular Season

    Having already clinched a spot in next week's Southeastern Conference Tournament, the Auburn baseball team welcomes No. 11 Arkansas to Plainsman Park for the final SEC series of the season. Game times for the series are 6pm on both Thursday and Friday and 1pm on Saturday.

    Auburn goes into the series 31-21, 11-16 SEC while Arkansas is 34-17, 17-9 SEC. Auburn could finish as high as sixth or as low as 12th in the final standings while Arkansas will finish either third or fourth and has already secured a first-round bye in the league tournament.

    Auburn Claims Series Over No. 13 Arkansas With 12-5 Win
    The Auburn baseball team scored in every inning but the ninth in claiming a 12-5 win over No. 13 Arkansas on Saturday. The win, which gave Auburn a third straight series win at Baum Stadium, improved Auburn's record to 28-23, 12-15 SEC while Arkansas fell to 35-17, 13-14.

    Auburn has won three straight series over Arkansas, with Arkansas being a top-13 team in all three series.

    Auburn will start left-handed pitcher Conner Kendrick (4-3, 2.25 ERA) in the opener on Thursday and left-handed pitcher Michael O'Neal (8-3, 2.85) on Friday. Saturday's starter is to be determined.

    Arkansas, which boasts the nation's lowest team ERA at 1.87, will start right-hander Barrett Astin (4-3, 2.21) on Thursday, right-hander Ryne Stanek (7-2, 1.70) on Friday and left-hander Randall Fant (5-1, 2.00) on Saturday.

    There will be numerous promotions at Plainsman Park over the weekend. On Thursday there will be a `Welcome Back Students Cookout' and the first 500 Auburn University students will receive free hot dogs and drinks on the Tiger Terrace. Students will also be able to enter to win prizes, including an AU Bookstore Gift Card.

    The first 500 fans into Friday's game will receive an Aubie Wobblehead and students can enter to win prizes including BEATS headphones and an AU Bookstore Gift Card. There will also be the $100 Hot Dog inning where fans who purchase a hot dog during a designated inning will be entered to win a $100 gift card.

     

     

    Saturday is Senior Day and the team will honor all of its seniors in an on-field ceremony prior to the game. The first 500 fans into the game will receive a MAX Credit Union Auburn baseball, with the first 100 autographed by current volunteer assistant coach Gabe Gross. Students can enter to win prizes including a Visa gift card while kids can enter to win one of two Wiis.
