The Tennessee softball team, its staff and the families of the teams in the Sheraton here are all safe. The coaches were first notified at about 3:15 p.m. to hold at the hotel due to severe weather moving towards Oklahoma City.
Then at about 8 p.m. a voice came over the hotel intercom and instructed all hotel guests to head down to the basement. Once in the basement, everyone was directed to keep moving to the parking garage of an adjacent building.
After about an hour, guests were instructed it was safe to move back upstairs to the lobby. Then the tornado sirens went off again and the Tennessee group moved back downstairs, where it stayed for approximately 30-45 minutes before moving back upstairs.
Friday’s games were obviously canceled. The NCAA has rescheduled Friday’s canceled Game 5 between Tennessee and Washington for 11 a.m. CT/12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this ordeal.
