Donovan, SEC Stars Help Team USA To Gold

Coached by Florida's Billy Donovan and powered by several Southeastern Conference standouts, the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team defeated Serbia, 82-68, on Sunday to claim the gold medal at the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship at O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic.

The U.S. led by just six points at the end of the third quarter but exploded in the fourth, outscoring Serbia 25-17 over the final 10 minutes.

With Sunday’s victory, the United States is now the reigning FIBA world champion in every age classification (U17, U19, Senior); the Americans had previously failed to capture U19 gold since 1999.

Tennesee's Jarnell Stokes scored four points and hauled in four rebounds in 14 minutes played Sunday, while Florida's Michael Frazier played 15 minutes and brought down six rebounds.

Following last summer’s 5-0 gold medal performance at the FIBA U18 Americas, Donovan now holds a 14-0 record in international competition and holds two gold medals.
