BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southeastern Conference Basketball Media Days for the 2013-14 season is scheduled for The Westin Hotel in downtown Birmingham, the conference office announced today.
"The Southeastern Conference is excited that Basketball Media Days is returning to downtown Birmingham, an area that has been home to the SEC Office since 1991,” Commissioner Mike Slive said. “We look forward to showcasing the new amenities the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex has brought to the area and hosting both national and regional media for this event.”
SEC Basketball Media Days, slated for October 16 and 17, will feature both the men’s and women’s head coaches from each of the 14 league institutions. In addition, a top returning player from each men’s and women’s teams will also be in attendance.
Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Missouri, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt are set for October 16 with Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Tennessee set for the October 17 sessions. A more complete schedule will be announced at a later date.
The SEC has hosted various events in Birmingham throughout its tenure in the city. Besides Basketball Media Days, this year’s gymnastics championship will be also contested at the BJCC.

Bell. “Our vision and investment in the Westin and Uptown Entertainment District is to bring more visitors to our City and to promote not only our hospitality but our attractions as well."
The Westin Hotel is located in the Uptown Entertainment District at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex, home to an arena and performing arts theater as well as the SEC Office.
