South Carolina junior defensive back Victor Hampton is the Southeastern Conference Football Community Service Team Player of the Week.
Hampton has spent nearly 65 hours in community service in his Gamecock career, with many of those talking with young children in schools or with children's hospital patients. He has participated in the Richland County Public Library Pigskin Poets event all four years, as well as facilitated clinics at a local church.
He started 12 of 13 games in 2012, making 40 tackles. Hampton intercepted one pass and tied for the team high with six pass breakups. He posted 10 tackles at LSU, a career best, and returned a blocked extra point for a two-point conversion at Florida. He sealed the win over Tennessee with his INT in the last minute and tallied two tackles for loss and his first career sack in the Outback Bowl win over Michigan. He twice garnered the Everyday Attitude Award from the coaching staff at the spring football game.
