    Four SEC Cross Country Teams Ranked

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Four Southeastern Conference cross country programs are ranked among the nation’s top-30 according to the latest edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I National Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday by the New Orleans-based organization.

    On the men’s side, Arkansas is ranked No. 6 nationally, while Florida is tied for 24th. The Auburn men’s team is receiving votes for the first time this season in the poll.

    On the women’s side, Arkansas checks in at No. 9, while Vanderbilt is No. 26. Fellow SEC team Florida also is receiving votes.

    Oklahoma State is the unanimous No. 1 on the men’s side, followed by No. 2 Colorado and No. 3 Northern Arizona. Oregon (No. 4) and BYU (No. 5) round out this week’s top five on the men’s side.

    Providence is receiving 11 of 12 first-place votes and is ranked No. 1 on the women’s side, followed by No. 2 Florida State and No. 3 Arizona. Duke (No. 4) and Oregon (No. 5) round out the women’s top-five.

    The next USTFCCCA Cross Country Coaches Poll is expected to be released on Oct. 8.

    The 2013 SEC Cross Country Championships are scheduled to take place Friday, November 1 in Gainesville, Fla.
