JOHN GIBSON PROMOTED TO INTERIM DIRECTOR OF SEC CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETING;
BRETT THOMPSON NAMED ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Southeastern Conference has announced that John Gibson has been promoted to Interim Director of SEC Championship Ticket Operations and Brett Thompson has been promoted to Assistant Director of that department.
Gibson previously served as assistant director of ticketing and Thompson moves from her position as an assistant in the Marketing and External Affairs Department.
“John Gibson and Brett Thompson will create a strong team to lead our championship ticket operations,” said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive. “John is experienced in the ticketing area and has developed relationships which will serve this role well. Brett’s creativity and experience in marketing provide new energy to this important area of our organization.”
Gibson has served as assistant director of ticketing since joining the SEC staff in 2006. A 1997 graduate of Tuskegee University, he earned his Master’s degree from Alabama A&M in 2000. In his new role he will direct ticket and credential operations for the SEC Football Championship Game and Men’s Basketball Tournament and coordinate ticket operations for all other ticketed SEC championship events directed by the league office.
Thompson has served as an assistant in Marketing and External Affairs since joining the SEC in 2009. She is a 2008 graduate of Auburn University. In her new position she will assist Gibson in all areas of championship ticketing and will also serve as the sport administrator for women’s tennis in the SEC office.
