Three SEC Teams Ranked In Latest USTFCCCA Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three Southeastern Conference cross country programs are ranked among the nation’s top-30 according to the latest edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I National Coaches Poll, released Tuesday by the New Orleans-based organization.

There was quite a bit of change in the most recent poll, given a pair of prestigious meets – the NCAA Pre-National Invitational and the Wisconsin adidas Invitational – this past weekend.

On the men’s side, Arkansas is the SEC’s only ranked program, checking in at No. 12. Florida also is receiving votes in the men’s poll.

On the women’s side, Arkansas rocketed to the nation’s No. 2 spot for the first time since 2006 after an impressive second-place performance at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational. The Razorbacks were the only team in the nation to place seven runners within the race’s top-100. Ole Miss ranks No. 30 in this week’s poll, marking its first cross country national ranking in school history - men or women. Texas A&M and Vanderbilt also are receiving votes in the women’s poll.

Colorado is this week’s new No. 1 on the men’s side, while Northern Arizona is No. 2 and Oklahoma State is No. 3. Oregon (No. 4) and BYU (No. 5) round out the men’s top-five.

Arizona is ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA women’s poll for the first time, while the Razorbacks are No. 2 and Georgetown is No. 3. Providence (No. 4) and Florida State (No. 5) round out the women’s top-five.

The next USTFCCCA Cross Country Coaches Poll is expected to be released on Nov. 5.

The 2013 SEC Cross Country Championships are scheduled to take place Friday, November 1 in Gainesville, Fla.
