    SEC Equestrian Riders of the Month (October 30, 2013)

    SEC Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month: Katherine Schmidt, South Carolina (Jr. Ridgefield, Conn.)

    • Has posted a 6-0 record in Equitation Over Fences to begin the 2013 season, earning four MVP honors in her six competitions.
    • Currently leads the Gamecocks in total wins (11) and MVPs (5) across both fences and flat.
    • Posted the SEC’s highest score of 89 over fences on Sept. 27 vs. Fresno State. Also holds an SEC leading fences score of 86 in conference competition only.
    • Has recorded MVP honors over fences in each of South Carolina’s SEC competitions.
    • The NCEA National Equitation Over Fences Rider Of The Month for September.

    SEC Equitation On The Flat Rider of the Month: Liza Finsness, Georgia (Fr., Wellington, Fla.)
    • A freshman who is 2-0 on the 2013 season in Equitation On the Flat and has defeated her opponents by an average of 5.0 points per meet.
    • Earned an MOP honor in her first meet against a ranked opponent, defeating South Carolina’s Samantha Kraus, 79-75, on the road to help the Bulldogs to a 9-9 win over the Gamecocks.
    • Has an average score of 77.5, the highest of any flat rider for the Bulldogs and is the only Georgia flat rider who is undefeated in two meets this season.

    SEC Horsemanship Rider of the Month: Logan Pluhar, Texas A&M (So., Canyon, Texas)
    • Has posted two wins in three competitions this year, earning MVP honors in each of her wins. All three competitions have come vs. nationally ranked opponents.
    • Holds the SEC’s top horsemanship score (all competitions) this season at 78.5.
    • Only loss came against Kansas State’s Kelly Boviard, the horsemanship MVP of the meet.

    SEC Reining Rider of the Month: Johnna Letchworth, South Carolina (Sr., Harwinton, Conn.)
    • In her first season competing in reining, has posted four wins and leads the reining team with three MVPs.
    • With her reining MVP against SMU, Letchworth became the school’s career leader in MVP honors and now has 19 such distinctions to her credit.
    • Is undefeated against conference opponents (1-0-1)  in reining.
    • All three of her reining MVP honors have come away from home.
