The Southeastern Conference announced its men's basketball players of the week Monday, recognizing outstanding performances on the court from around the league.
SEC Player of the Week
Missouri’s Jordan Clarkson, a 6-foot-5, 193-pound junior guard from San Antonio, Texas, was named SEC Player of the Week after averaging 22 points, 3.5 assists, three rebounds and 1.5 steals in wins over Southern Illinois and Hawaii. Clarkson scored a career-high 31 points in the win over Southern Illinois, hitting 12-of-18 shots while dishing out a team-high five assists. Shot 51.5 percent from the field for the week and 81.8 percent from the foul line.
SEC Freshman of the Week
LSU’s Jordan Mickey, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound freshman forward from Arlington, Texas, was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 12 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.5 blocks and two assists in games at UMass and against Northwestern State. Posting double-doubles in his first two collegiate games, Mickey had 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks at UMass and then followed that up with 10 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks and three assists against Northwestern State.
