TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Top-ranked Alabama hosted Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon, and the Crimson Tide remained on a collision course with archrival Auburn with a 49-0 drubbing of the Mocs. This one was not close for long, as Bama (11-0) used a 21-point second quarter to distance itself for good.
The Tide was content to do most of its damage on the ground, as it rushed for 244 yards on the day on 7.9 yards per carry. Four different runners found the end zone for Alabama in Kenyan Drake, Derrick Henry, Chris Black and Dee Hart.
AJ McCarron tossed two touchdowns in the victory for Alabama, averaging 10.7 yards per pass attempt on the afternoon en route to 171 yards. Kevin Norwood and Amari Cooper were the two receivers that McCarron connected with in the end zone.
The Alabama defense was stout as usual, surrendering only 174 total yards on the afternoon while forcing two turnovers. Chattanooga (8-4) managed only 82 yards through the air and 92 on the ground.
