Seven student-athletes from the Southeastern Conference were recently named semi-finalists for the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup, sponsored by Athletes for a Better World.
The Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup is presented annually to two distinguished athletes who have made the greatest difference in the lives of others. One athlete is selected from the college ranks, while another is selected from the professional ranks. The award recipients are role models, both on and off the field of play.
The SEC's semi-finalists are as follows: Tera Bredham (Arkansas, Swimming), Chris Conley (Georgia, Football), Kastine Evans (Kentucky, Women’s Basketball), Josh Richardson (Tennessee, Basketball), Jake Matthews (Texas A&M, Football), D.T. Shackleford (Ole Miss, Football), Avery Williamson (Kentucky, Football).
Out of more than 100 Division I nominees from all sports, these SEC candidates constitute seven of the 36 student-athletes who made the semifinalist list. The goal of ABW is to make the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup the most prestigious award in all of sports.The fact that it is open to athletes of all sports makes it a very unique honor.
