    • SEC Traditions: What Used To Be A Phone Call

If you’ve never been to an NFL draft in New York City at Radio City Music Hall, which starts a three-day run Thursday night, then put it on your sports bucket list. It’s definitely a show, “like Hollywood,” LSU football coach Les Miles said. But it wasn’t always this way, which is why I called Archie Manning, to give me perspective as he almost always does.
    • SEC Names Daniels Associate Commissioner

Tiffany Daniels, currently the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs at Georgia State University, has been named Associate Commissioner with the Southeastern Conference, Commissioner Mike Slive announced Friday.
    • SEC And The Baseball America Top 100

On Tuesday, the publication Baseball America released their top 100 prospects list, a collection of the premier talent currently playing in Major League Baseball’s minor league system. The index, released at the start of spring training every year since 1990, has become widely acknowledged as the most prestigious prospect directory in the entire sport.
    • The SEC "Numbers Game": Volume 2

And so it begins. Umpires across college baseball uttered the phrase “play ball” this weekend, signifying the start of the 2013 season. In the Southeastern Conference, 44 games were played, league teams took to the diamond for the first time this year.
    • The SEC "Numbers Game": The Beginning

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." Whenever a new season of baseball is set to begin, I always find myself going back to find this famous quote. Uttered by Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby, it perfectly illustrates the wait a true baseball fan endures, as the cold weather of fall replaces the sunshine filled days of summer.

SEC Nation Photoblog: The Tickets Are Here
The countdown is almost in single digits. The 2012 SEC football season is almost here. In this installment of the SEC Nation photoblog, I asked those very fans to share that moment. We asked for pictures of season tickets on Monday night, and by this morning my inbox was slammed full. People have taken pride in making a design of their tickets (you'll see below), or just laying them out for everyone to see. Below is a grouping of the many pictures I received, a collection that spans nearly the entire conference.   Full Story

SEC Insider: The Year In Numbers
What an amazing year. Looking through my personal calendar from the past 12 months, there is sea of ink stains and scribble marks that would make any first grader proud. There was breaking news (which we will get to later), signature events (All-SEC BCS) and memorable moments. Despite our best attempts to pre-plan for it all, the sheer nature of volatility in the world of collegiate athletics made that task almost impossible.  Full Story

SEC Insider Blog: A Trip Down Memory Lane
I'm a huge fan of history. Learning about the past has always been a hobby of mine, as I've tried to gain insight from the moments of yesteryear. My feeling was that an ounce of knowledge you could gain from events that happened before your time gives you that much more experience for today. I know that sounds a bit corny, but it is the truth. Who would have thought an office reconstruction would rekindle that passion?  Full Story

SEC 40/40: The Journey Of Lolo Jones
For Lolo Jones, choosing a career was always easy. After overcoming adversity and dodging obstacles her entire life, it only made sense that the former LSU star would decide to leap hurdles as her profession. “My job is to literally hurdle,” said Jones. “So for me to have a hurdle in life and not be able to jump over it, well that would be silly.”  Full Story

    SEC Media Days: Website Traffic
Another historic SEC Media Days is now a week behind us. The well-attended three day event at the Wynfrey Hotel serves as the official "kickoff" to the 2012 football season, as we get prepared for what many league fans hope is another championship level year in the SEC. While the excitement and coverage level for media (1,085 credentials issued/33 radio stations broadcasting live) continues to grow, the same can be said for the conference's fans. In today's column, I break down just who watched SEC Media Days on the league website, while also comparing trends from a year ago.   Full Story
