    The Southeastern Conference and ESPN have signed a 20-year agreement through 2034 to create and operate a multiplatform network, which will launch in August 2014, it was announced today by SEC Commissioner Mike Slive and ESPN President John Skipper.
    University of Alabama football player Barrett Jones and University of Kentucky track & field and cross country athlete Chelsea Oswald have been named the 2012-13 Southeastern Conference H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athletes of the Year, Commissioner Mike Slive announced Friday.
    Chelsea Oswald was named the 2013 recipient of the prestigious NCAA Elite 89 award for indoor track and field. The Elite 89 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. Oswald boasts a 4.0 GPA, and competed in both the 3,000 meters and distance medley relay at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.
