2013 SEC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and NCAA Champion in the 400 IM, Elizabeth Beisel (North Kingstown, R.I.), was named the 2013 Capital One Women’s Academic All-America of the Year for the At-Large division as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). For the first time in 22 years, the University of Kentucky swimming and diving program will be led by someone other than Gary Conelly, who retired in April. That someone new, however, is a familiar face as UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart announced Tuesday that associate head coach Lars Jorgensen has been selected to succeed Conelly.
The Southeastern Conference and ESPN have signed a 20-year agreement through 2034 to create and operate a multiplatform network, which will launch in August 2014, it was announced today by SEC Commissioner Mike Slive and ESPN President John Skipper.
The College Swimming Coaches Association of America named Tennessee head swimming and diving coach Matt Kredich the 2013 recipient of the National Collegiate and Scholastic Swimming Trophy, the organization announced Tuesday.
After 22 years at the helm of the University of Kentucky swimming and diving program, Gary Conelly announced his retirement to his athletes Wednesday morning, closing the book on one of the longest head-coaching tenures in UK athletics history and a long, impressive journey through the sport.
