HOOVER, Ala. – The Road Begins In Hoover.

When the first pitch was thrown on Tuesday at Regions Park in Hoover between Ole Miss and Kentucky, it marked the 15th consecutive year of one of the greatest traditions in college baseball – the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

For one week, all eyes will be focused on Hoover, where the last three NCAA Champions have originated. To keep up with all of the coverage – including live stats and live audio – log on to or hashtag #RBIHoover on Twitter.

The event will have a different look this season as the format has increased from eight to 10 teams and will run from Tuesday through Sunday. Games played from Tuesday to Friday are double elimination with single-elimination games starting on Saturday with games 15 and 16.

There’s no question that the SEC Baseball Tournament is one of the finest events in all of college baseball, but also consider the following facts:

    •       Since 1990, 145 squads have received NCAA Tournament bids to lead the nation.
    •       A nation-leading 43 SEC teams have recorded College World Series berths since 1990, winning nine of the last 22 NCAA Titles.
    •       Ten different SEC squads have made College World Series appearances since 1990, the most different teams from a conference to appear in Omaha during that span.
    •       SEC teams have appeared in 26 of the last 27 College World Series.

Since 2000, the SEC has captured four NCAA Championships, with LSU and South Carolina each winning a pair of national crowns during that stretch. Consider this statistic: since 1990, an SEC team has played in 141 of the 315 games in the College World Series. Just last season, 10 of the 14 games in the CWS featured at least one SEC squad.

All-time, SEC teams have made 58 College World Series appearances and have won 111 total games.

What does the remainder of this baseball season have in store for the SEC? Don’t miss a pitch of this weekend’s tournament because, no matter what is to come, the Road Begins In Hoover.
